What we must meditate on daily!

Image
Anytime the Bible talks about something twice, I pay even closer attention. One of such times is what God says on meditation, specifically what we should meditate on.  Joshua 1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Psalms 1:2-3  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  Both verses of scripture tells us to meditate on the law of the Lord. Jesus summarized the Law into these 2. Matthew 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mi...

How to deal with harmful inheritances

Image
An inheritance is something passed on to a person from a previous generation. On spiritual terms, an inheritance could be a blessing (healthy) or a curse (harmful). Nobody complains about the blessings that come from previous generations, in fact the bible says in Proverbs 13: 22A that "a good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children... "Also, we all know and sing about the Abrahamic Blessing which we are all partakers of through faith in Christ Jesus. The issue to be discussed today deals with the harmful inheritances which is popularly called "generational curses". Does it exist? Is it biblical? Yes.  Exodus 20 vs 5 "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me."  Not forgetting this, that we (esp. our forefathers) who are now Christians were once gentiles and therefore were...

Overcoming Fear

Image
Fear is the number one thief of destiny. Many destinies and heritages have been left unfulfilled because of fear, whether of the unknown or the known.  The topical verse is taken from the book of 1John 4: 18 and it says: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.  There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear... From this verse, the obvious solution to fear is 'perfect love'. What is perfect love then? The question in itself shows a wrong state of mind. No one has been able to clearly define love, not to talk of 'love perfected' . The right question is, WHO is perfect love? And that is God. God's love personified is Jesus Christ. And only Him can cast out the fear that lodges itself in the heart. As a Christian, if you are still fearful, it is because you are not... 'made perfect in love' ... concerning that situation you are fearful of. You do...

No Worries about Riches

Matthew 6:  24    “No one can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches!” 25    “That’s why I’m telling you to stop worrying about your life—what you will eat or what you will drink—or about your body—what you will wear. Life is more than food, isn’t it, and the body more than clothing? 33    But first be concerned about God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided for you as well. Riches in the world today is very important, but in the verses above God is telling us to choose Him and not be concerned about riches. Jesus is not wicked, he knows that one needs riches to purchase things, neither is He naive to make us think that all we have to do is not worry and riches will come. Rather He is teaching us here as we will see in subsequent verses things we can do that help us be confident about riches and thus we can easi...

What happens when a saint sins

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A SAINT SINS A Sabbath rest remains, therefore, for God’s people. For the person who has  entered His rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from His. Let us  then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same  pattern of disobedience. Hebrews 4: 9 - 11 A Sabbath rest means a person has rested from their own works, and what does  that mean? It means the person is doing the work of God on the earth. This doesn’t  mean that a person doesn’t go to their normal everyday work, but rather the person goes with the mindset that his or her work is unto the Lord God Almighty.  Because God rested on the Sabbath day after creating the heavens and earth and all that is in it after 7 days by speaking it into existence. After which he formed man and gave man responsibility of the earth according to God’s instructions. Therefore, when God gave Adam and Eve in the bible the instructions, they were not their own...

The Good Conscience

The Good Conscience First time the word conscience is used according to the KJV Bible version is at John 8: 9 Joh 8:9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst Some people were convicted by their own conscience, while trying to accuse a woman of committing adultery, in the hope of expecting Jesus to judge her guilty. His response caused these people to be convicted by their conscience and thus they all left. It is interesting to note the  order with which the people left, from the eldest to the youngest. Youngest meaning young but old enough to understand what adultery means without which there is no basis for accusation. All left based on the level of consciousness of sin, from the eldest because they had more knowledge of their sins as time passed by to the youngest. It is written that the law was a school master to bring us unto ...

Jesus, the perfecter of our faith

Jesus, the perfecter of our faith Heb 11:39 These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith,  didn't receive the promise,  Heb 11:40 God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that  apart from us they should not be made perfect. Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a  cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so  easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the  joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is  set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Heb 11:39 These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith,  didn't receive the promise… What was promised? According to the Prophecy of the book of Joel and as quoted by the Apostle Peter,  what was promised was the Holy Spirit. Howev...
