WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A SAINT SINS

A Sabbath rest remains, therefore, for God’s people. For the person who has 
entered His rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from His. Let us 
then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same 
pattern of disobedience. Hebrews 4: 9 - 11

A Sabbath rest means a person has rested from their own works, and what does 
that mean? It means the person is doing the work of God on the earth. This doesn’t 
mean that a person doesn’t go to their normal everyday work, but rather the person goes with the mindset that his or her work is unto the Lord God Almighty. 

Because God rested on the Sabbath day after creating the heavens and earth and all that is in it after 7 days by speaking it into existence. After which he formed man and gave man responsibility of the earth according to God’s instructions. Therefore, when God gave Adam and Eve in the bible the instructions, they were not their own 
works, but when the enemy came and tempted them, and they fell to sin, they 
seized from their rest, that is from doing God’s works and therefore started doing 
theirs or the enemy’s; and by this they were disobedient. 

As a side note, they went to after their disobedience and God sought them, that is why the author of the book of Hebrews said for the “word of God is living and 
effective and sharper than any two edged sword, penetrating as far as to divide 
soul, spirit, joints, and marrow, it is a judge of the ideas and thoughts of the heart. 
No creature is hidden from him, but all things are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give an account. Hebrews 4 : 12 -13.

In order words, One has nowhere to hide from Jesus, the word of God, when one 
acts in disobedience to God.

However, we see that what led to Adam & Eve’s disobedience is that they were 
tempted. And that is why the Apostle 
James said:

James 1:12: Blessed is the person that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love 
him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God for God cannot be 
tempted with evil, neither tempteth he anyone: but every person is tempted, when he is drawn away and enticed by one’s own evil desire.

What does one do when they fall into the temptation of the enemy? We go to God 
to ask for His mercy.

Therefore since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens let us hold fast to the confession for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weakness, but one who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin: Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time” Heb.4: 14 – 16. 

One must however point out that if one doesn’t make use of the confession, - the 
repentance and request for mercy when one errs, - then it is possible that as the 
Apostle James said, “Then after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and 
when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death”.

Reason why I say it is possible in the paragraph above is because Jesus our High Priest is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray … Hebrews 5: 2.

Therefore, if a person errs in any way, then it is advisable that that one humbles 
himself and ask for mercy from the Lord as it is needed to obtain repentance. 
However, there is deeper depth that God take us when we yield to the Holy Spirit 
and read the bible to get His Truth and ask Him to guide us in all our ways. For 
Jesus said:

Joh 14:15 – 17 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may 
abide with you for ever; 
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, 
neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in 
you.
