Overcoming Fear


Fear is the number one thief of destiny. Many destinies and heritages have been left unfulfilled because of fear, whether of the unknown or the known. 

The topical verse is taken from the book of 1John 4: 18 and it says: There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear...

From this verse, the obvious solution to fear is 'perfect love'. What is perfect love then? The question in itself shows a wrong state of mind. No one has been able to clearly define love, not to talk of 'love perfected' . The right question is, WHO is perfect love? And that is God.

God's love personified is Jesus Christ. And only Him can cast out the fear that lodges itself in the heart. As a Christian, if you are still fearful, it is because you are not... 'made perfect in love' ... concerning that situation you are fearful of. You do not yet know the victory Jesus has paid for for you to live victorious in that situation. Your faith has not been built up yet. 

As we study the word we become more aware of what God has done for us in varying dimensions, and the Holy Spirit bears witness and increases the love of God that is in our hearts.

I have often asked myself the question of why Israel is still blessed despite there being a new covenant. The Old Covenant is the Jewish Covenant rooted in Moses, the servant of God. The New Covenant is also a Jewish Covenant but rooted in Jesus, the Son of God. The New Covenant supersedes the old Covenant in all ramifications. Balance

  Acts 8: 39 – 40 When they came up out of the water, t he Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caeserea. Let us pray.
