RAISING OUR LAND (EPISODE 7 - PAYMENT FOR OUR REDEMPTION)
RAISING OUR LAND
“Thus says the LORD, In an acceptable time have I
answered you, and in a day of salvation have I helped you; and I will preserve
you, and give you for a covenant of the people, to raise up the land, to make them inherit the desolate
heritage…”(emphasis mine)
Isiah
49 vs 8 (Hebrew Names Version of The Holy Bible)
Welcome to today’s
episode.
I would like a hundred
people to join me in praying this prayer, based on the scripture that says “And five of you shall chase an hundred, and
an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall
before you by the sword. Lev 26:8” The enemies we need defeated in our
lives presently are: the veil which may be over our eyes: as it prevents the
light of God’s word to enlighten and be sown in our hearts; and those obstacles
that prevent our hearts from being good soils. Our swords are our words of
prayer. Therefore, the prayer goes thus:
We pray that the
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto us the spirit
of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: that our minds may be opened
to see his light, so that we will know what is the hope to which he has called
us.
We also pray
that God should by His Holy Spirit prepare our hearts by making it a good soil
for the word of God which when planted in our hearts will grow and prosper and
yield forth good fruits just as a seed would in good soil. And that by the
Blood of Jesus, we clean every heart from whatever may be present within which
would negatively affect the growth and prosperity of the Word of God in our
lives in Jesus Name, Amen.
EPISODE 7: PAYMENT FOR OUR REDEMPTION
In this episode, we
would study the role the blood plays, how the blood had been used from Genesis
and how it is the tool God used as payment for our redemption. We will also
look at some of the benefits that belong to us by being redeemed and justified in
Christ.
Let us start by defining
the blood and its purpose based on scripture.
Leviticus
17: 11 “for the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you
upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes
atonement for the soul.”
The word atonement
means to make payment for. For instance, you atone for a fault by doing
something equivalent.
When Adam sinned he
became unholy in the sight of God. But God is Holy. So, in other for His wrath not
to destroy them, blood was shed to make atonements for their souls. For it is
written in Gen 3: 21, “Unto Adam and to
his wife did the Lord God make coats of skin, and clothed them.” To clothe
them with coats of skin, implies that an animal must have been killed, which
means blood was shed. I believe this blood that was shed was for a sin offering
for both Adam and Eve. Remember we briefly discussed the offerings and how they were established yesterday.
Let us now study how the Sin Offering was offered according to scriptures.
Lev
4: 21 - 26: “When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against
any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not
be done, and is guilty; Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his
knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without
blemish: And he shall lay his hand upon
the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt
offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering. And the priest shall take of
the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the
altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the
altar of burnt offering. And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the
fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement
for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.
You may ask how come
the coats of skin which God used as clothing since the animal was offered? Well, the clue is this: the skin and the
flesh is not required as part of this Sin Offering. My opinion is that God instead
of burning the skin outside the camp as the Priests did (as shown in Lev 4: 11 -12); He used it as clothing for Adam
and Eve; after all, they were no longer residing in the camp / presence of God
(the Garden of Eden).
However, the life of an
animal can only pay to appease God’s wrath and receive the forgiveness of sin,
it cannot replace the life that was lost due to sin nor take away sin. Meaning,
the blood of animals cannot balance the scale of justice. This is why these offerings were done periodically.
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Also, it is important
to note that, when the Israelites made offerings to God under the Levitical Priesthood,
they provided the animal that will be sacrificed.
But in the case of Adam
and Eve, where the Levitical Priesthood had not even been birth, we see that it
is God who has brought the animal which was sacrificed for Adam and Eve, and
this is in line with John the Baptist’s prophetic declaration in John 1: 29,
‘…John
seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold
the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.’
“…But
one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his (Jesus’) side, and forthwith came
there out blood and water. John 18:34”.
With the blood of the
Lamb of God, the scale of justice is forever balanced, if not even tilted in
our favor.
Revelations
5:6 - 10 “And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four
beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain,
having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent
forth into all the earth. And he came and took the book out of the right hand
of him that sat upon the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four
beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of
odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to
open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy
blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast
made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
Therefore, we no longer
need any animals or what not to serve as sin offerings unto God; we can just
come to the throne of grace and receive mercy…
Heb 9: 13 - 14: For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Now since the Lamb of
God is Jesus Christ, and Jesus saying on the cross ‘It is finished’ meant that
all the Father had instructed Jesus to do was accomplished. For it is written: “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished…he
said, it is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” John
19:28, 30
This means that all the
prophecies concerning every Christian and the Church were also accomplished. One of the promises is that whoever shall
believe in the Son, shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
I believe that this
everlasting life is a reversal of all that we lost through Adam.
“For
if by one man’s offence death reigned by one, much more they which receive
abundance grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one,
Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to
condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift (For thus saith
the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without
money. Isaiah 52:3) came upon all men unto justification of life.” Romans 5: 17
& 18.
Now let us look briefly
at some of the things we are beneficiaries of in Jesus for it is written:
Hebrews 9: 15 And
for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means
of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the
first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of
eternal inheritance.
(A) One of our eternal inheritance is that we have been redeemed by God through and in Christ,
for it is written:
Isaiah
43:1 “But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that
formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee
by thy name; thou art mine.”
Isaiah
44:22 “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a
cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.”
Hosea
13:14 “I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from
death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance (To death and the grave) shall be hid from mine eyes.”
Isaiah
63:16 “Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and
Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name
is from everlasting.”
(B) We
are redeemed from our iniquities, for it is written:
Psalm
130:8 “And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”
Titus
2:14 “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and
purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.”
(C)
This redemption is also from the hands of our enemies, for it is written:
Psalm
136:24 “And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.”
Psalm
107:2 – 3 “Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the
hand of the enemy; And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from
the west, from the north, and from the south.”
Tomorrow, Tuesday, 15th
November, 2016; we would look at more scriptures that show us that we have been
redeemed from the curse amongst other benefits.
