Call Jesus Lord and Do What He Says

The moment we say 'I receive Jesus as my Lord and Saviour' and actually believe what we are saying, we become Christians. To grow as Christians, we must choose to hear what our Lord is saying, and do what He tells us to do. When God tells us to be Perfect before him, we must understand that perfection is not necessarily an end, but a continuous affair. Perfection is us hearing and obeying God in every aspect of our lives. If you have said He is your Lord, then doing what He tells you is not optional. May God help us to always hear Him and obey him completely, in Jesus name, Amen.

We must also learn a vital lesson from the story of John the Baptist, a great Prophet whose mission was to prepare the way for Jesus to come. He said of Jesus:

‭Mark‬ ‭1:7‭-‬8‬ ‭RSV‬
[7] And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. [8] I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

He eventually Baptised Jesus and declared:

‭John‬ ‭1:35‭-‬37‬ ‭RSV‬
[35]  The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; [36] and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” [37] The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.

It is interesting that John the Baptist, knowing who Jesus is, did not fold up His ministry to follow Jesus even though his assignment was now complete. Two of his disciples caught the wave and left him to follow Jesus but he did not. It is my opinion that at this point he moved outside the will of God, because his obedience was not complete. We know what eventually became of him.

Brethren, I pray again that God helps us to hear Him clearly and obey Him completely, in Jesus name, Amen.
