Are you sure it is God speaking to you?
Dear aspiring Minister of God, don't leave that job just yet to face full time ministry.
I know you believe you heard God's voice and you probably have a scripture to back it up.
But wait first, when Satan tempted Jesus, He sounded sensible when he told Jesus to prove Himself to be the Son of God by throwing himself off a pinnacle, afterall no harm ought to come to the Son of God, he even quoted a scripture to back his demand.
Luke 4: 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
It is possible that that voice you heard isn't God speaking to you, but rather it is a temptation telling you to leave the source of your income and that God will provide for you after all he provides for the birds of the air and they don't gather into barns. This temptation is similar to Jesus', and you must not tempt the Lord thy God has Jesus replied the devil.
Imagine Jesus falling for Satan's trick, he would have fallen and injured himself even though he is the Son of God, causing himself so much pain and he will probably end up doubting his calling. If you fall for the trick, the probability that Poverty will hit you hard is very high. It will cause you so much pain when you can't afford the basic of things because you are no longer earning an income, having to depend on others when you were once independent yourself. You may end up doubting your calling and even God's word because your faith in his word concerning your finances is coming from a fallacy. As Apostle James said:
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
So before you make that decision to leave your job, make sure you already have an already structured source of income. Be realistic. I know today, 'realistic' seems not to be a faith word, but wasn't Jesus realistic when he refused to jump from a pinnacle? Don't injure yourself.
If your argument is that Jesus began his ministry as a full time thing, well my question is can you turn water into wine? Can you tell which fish in the ocean has money in its belly? Trust me, if you can turn water into wine, you will not have any problems with getting your needs met.
And if you have already taken the bait, and you are feeling the strain, don't be head strong and say you have to persevere, back track, get a job, and continue to find a way to serve God as best as you can. Pray that God opens a door of opportunity for you to get to the next level of your assignment. And when that opportunity comes, grab it. It may not be what you expect, but at least you will be back on the right path, walking obediently according to God's will for your life.
