Having a 'Good Mind' for year 2025 and beyond

Image
It is the eve of the New Year 2025. Two things are happening in most people’s minds. Reflection on how 2024 panned out and what 2025 would look like. Either way, if you are reading this, you know you have to be thankful to God for this year. Why?, You are alive + you are healthy enough to read and understand these words. Economically, some will argue that the outlook of the country in 2025 is looking brighter. Recently, the news of another refinery located in Warri beginning operations filled the airwaves. 125,000 barrels per day I hear. Perhaps, this may reduce the price of fuel, and reduce the cost of food and other life necessities. Or Not?! Am no expert. If we cannot fully trust economics to cheer us up in 2025, thank God we have the word of God to give us a positive outlook for 2025. We can trust that in 2025, our Heavenly Father is saying I will never leave you nor forsake you. He is also saying the thoughts He has for you are of good and not of evil, to take you to an expe...

A Christmas Message

Image
Merry Christmas everybody!! For those who do not know, Christmas day is a day the church of Christ has chosen to celebrate the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus is a strange story. He was born in a manger in Bethlehem. But it was a fulfilment of a Prophecy made long ago by the Prophet Micah! Micah 5:2 states, "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. This prophecy describes a person who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times. Based on this, the Israelites were expectant of a King. So why do we say Jesus is the one who was prophesied off by Micah, if he wasn’t a King? Two reasons: 1) the fact that He could have been an earthly King based on a) His lineage and b) His works 1a) Based on his legal lineage, Jesus is a descendant of David, the son of Jesse, through his Legal Father Joseph....

Paranormal Activity

Image of Light in a Blackhole (created by Copilot) I was surfing on Instagram reels, laughing at the comedies and I came across a reel by Better Together – A Christian tv-talk show I enjoy -   and this lady was discussing how when she first became a Christian she complained to her pastor that the bible was too big and voluminous and his response was that the first two chapters of the bible was proof of God’s true intent for humanity on the earth and the remaining books just related how humanity kept messing things up and God kept chasing us down, time after time, giving us grace upon grace (paraphrasing). I enjoyed that perspective a lot because it shows that God’s intent for humanity regardless is love. Rom 8:31   What, then, can we say about all of this? If God is for us, who can be against us?  Rom 8:32   The one who did not spare his own Son, but offered him as a sacrifice for all of us, surely will give us all things, along with his Son, won't he?...

Acts 8: 39 – 40 When they came up out of the water, t he Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; the eunuch saw him no more, and went his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he was passing through the region, he proclaimed the good news to all the towns until he came to Caeserea. Let us pray. We ask that every veil is removed from our eyes, ears and hearts and we receive the word of God with gladness, our faith is strengthened and fruitful. In Jesus name, Amen. Growing up, I always believed that the gifts of the Spirit were more than the 9 that the Apostle Paul by inspiration listed in the book of 1 corinthians chapter 12. I based this belief on the fact that for instance Jesus walked on water, defying a lot of laws of physics; and even Philips teleported by the power of the Spirit. Throw in the effects of the Harry Potter stories, Charles Xavier of the X-men and the power of the ‘force’ in Star Wars; and I was fairly certain I had the innate abilit...

Mrs Zebedee's Request

Years back there was a popular song by a popular secular artist of which the lyrics would help set the pace for today’s conversation. The core of the lyrics translated to English is: “Aren’t you a child of Jesus, lift your legs and stomp on satan”. A lot of people danced to it, I also being among them. But recently, when I understood the prophecy that the “seed of the woman (JESUS) will strike the head of satan (Gen 3: 15) it became clear that the lyrics were a taunt. A taunt to Christians that they should fulfil prophecy and stomp the head of satan if they were truly to be called children of Jesus. But taunts like this are not unfamiliar, satan did the same to Jesus during the temptation at the wilderness when he said Mat 4:5   Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,  Mat 4:6   And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning t...

Continuing on my adulation for the Apostle John… have you noticed the childlikeness of the man in his writings? Apart from him always writing about how He is the disciple whom Jesus loves, there is one occasion when he absolutely trolls Apostle Peter. Joh 20:1   The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.  Joh 20:2   Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.  Joh 20:3   Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.  Joh 20:4   So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter , and came first to the sepulchre. Did you see what he said there, he claimed to outrun Peter… and am thinking and laughing at the same time wonderin...
